Six Month Program Report 6/9/2009

 

1)      Attendance Statistics January 1, 2009 – June 5, 2009. 106 days open 7,464 visits 70 members average attendance per day.

2)      6,329 healthy snacks served, 106 days open 60 snacks per day served.

3)      Power Hour – 78 days Power Hour offered 58 members per day equals 4,524 hours. Outcomes 84% members either maintained grade point average or improved from the 4th six week period to the 5th 45% improved, 39% maintained average. 15% decrease grade point average, but the decreases were insignificant to passing. Only one member may have to repeat a grade. The most significant indicator we found reviewing report cards was attendance. Members with the best attendance in school did better than those that multiple absences.

4)      SMART Moves 78 members participated, 98% improved their score from the pre test to the post test. (Read letter on back)

5)      Master Gardener – 5 sessions, 12 members per session outcome  a beautiful garden

6)      ACE It! 24 members attended 85% of the time. 673 hours of reading time. Outcome 100% of the members improved at least one grade level from the pre to the post test.

7)      Wagging Tails Therapy Dogs, 6 members read for 60 sessions. 

8)      Art – Artzone, 12 sessions, average 7 members per session. General Craft by Club staff 21 sessions 10 per session. Birdhouse project 12 members 

9)      Triple Play – Mind, Body and Soul Fitness Program starts in June.

10)  Cal Ripken – 10 police officers have agreed to help  

11)  Girl Scouts – 8 sessions 12 girls and sold 111 boxes of cookies in 2 hours.

12)  Boys Scouts – 5 sessions 13 boys

13)  Girls Basketball  - 12 girls 8 games. Won the sportsmanship and team sprit award. There was also a comprehensive life-skills program that the teen girls attended.

14)  Girls on the Run 15 life-skills sessions 12 members  6 girls finished the 5k run.

15)  Teen Entrepreneurship program 6 dances, 800 teen visits to the dances, 133 teens average per event. 7 teens work receiving a stipend. The Club received a $6,000.00 grant to implement the program and we have made approximately $2,100.00. One business training session with Jim Daly. The members of this program also staff the snack shop.  

16)  Computer Lab- 159 hours computer lab was open 20 members per day used the lab for SOL study, Netsmartz kidz and skill tech.

17)  Youth of the Year Tiana Mortan winner 2 public speaking sessions one each with Gloria and Monica.

18)  Big Brothers & Big Sisters 12 mentors visited their mentees  4 mentors came 1 time per week and the rest averaged 6 times over a six month period.

19)  Mothers Day 150 people attended, Awards night 100, Ace It graduation 115, Black History Celebration 75, Breakfast with the Bunny 105.

20)  Recycling program - Is getting better. 

21)   To keep this consistent daily attendance we had daily fun activities, events and competitive challenges.
