Since opening our doors on December 9, 2005, Boys & Girls Club of Greater Lynchburg has been a safe haven for young people in our community; an alternative to the negative influences on the streets, a place of comfort and security, of learning, and self-development. For many, the Club has been a second home with staff and volunteers like family. In just 11 short years, Club members have already made a lasting impact within their communities.

Thanks to the vision and foresight of Club founder Mr. Louie Robinson who saw a need for children to have a safe place to go afterschool, the Club has grown from serving 43 youth daily in 2005, to serving 160 youth today! Members range in ages from 6-18 and come from all around our community. With three Clubhouses (Madison Street, Madison Street Teen Center, and Jefferson Park), the Club is equipped to make a lasting impact on the youth who need us the most. And now, we are ready to embark on our next project - a middle school sized gymnasium. Why a gym? Because youth served by the Club deserve space to play and the opportunity to participate in youth sports that are far too often unaffordable to their families. A gym creates a new dynamic in attracting new youth and the opportunity to reach troubled youth through sports. With the completion of the "Room to Move Comprehensive Campaign." the gymnasium may allow the Club to serve up to 250 youth daily.

Our growth is thanks to the phenomenal support of the Lynchburg community with their giving hearts and the leadership of our volunteer Board of Directors who tirelessly champion for Great Futures for all of Lynchburg's youth. The Club has continued to grow to serve more youth, even as other organizations were closing. The need is real. The need is now. The need is great. We are proud to say our growth has been measured, but steady for the last 11 years. And now it is time to grow again so that the Club can reach even more youth who need us.

We invite you to review the Room to Move Comprehensive Campaign materials, Inside, you will find the first of three phases of the Campaign are complete. If you have any questions or would like to further discuss the Club's expansion, please give us a call.

We look forward to working with you!
